Susan Shay - Sponsor For 15 years Susan Ten Abby Shay served as president and CEO of Shay Aerospace Corporation (Design and manufacture of optical and laser communications systems) and Shay International, Inc. (Communications systems, publishing, public relations.) Prior to this time, she held positions as director of public relations and technical publications for Omnidata International, director of public relations for the University of New Mexico - Los Alamos, president of a public relations firm, executive editor for a technology transfer division at Los Alamos National Laboratory, newspaper managing editor, regional arts editor, national science news editor, and publisher. Shay is the author of five books, more than 400 popular and professional articles, two public television scripts, and a produced play. She has developed and taught English and communication courses for public schools, universities, corporate clients, and government agencies and has been honored for excellence and innovation in teaching. Susan served on School to Work and Habitat for Humanity boards, participated in a landmark Women in Science program at LANL, served as a mentor for young women in business, and developed and directed an education-based economic recovery program for disadvantaged women and their children in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Shay and her husband Tom are parents of four children and are part of a large multinational immediate family (French, Irish, Basque, German, Persian, Korean, Turkish, Hispanic, Swiss and Paiute.)
