The passage of the controversial Arizona statute ignited a firestorm
of commentary and protest (on both sides) about long-simmering immigration
issues facing the United States. The subtleties and complexities not
always easily understood. We have invited a panel of experts to clarify
for us some questions that our media may not always cover in depth,
such as:
* The true scope of the Arizona statute…
* Whether the immigration application process
is working well -- or broken...
* The challenges indigent immigrants with
legitimate legal issues may face in securing legal representation.. .
* Whether all illegal immigrants
struggle with poverty…
* And
more.
Our Panelists include:
* Jennie Landau, attorney with Diocesan Migrant & Refugee Services
* Rachel LaZar, executive director of the immigrant rights group El CENTRO de Igualdad y Derechos
* Raquel Troyce, legal and medical Spanish interpreter and tutor, screen writer and artist
* (Invited): T.J. Wilham, Communications Director, City of Albuquerque Department of Public Safety
This month's program, brought to us by a panel of experts on all aspects of
the immigration issue, will answer these question--and a few more. Our
own Peter Rinn will moderate.
