Keynote Speaker: Maggie Macnab, owner of Macnab Design and author of the recently published and highly acclaimed book, "Decoding Design: Understanding and Using Symbols in Visual Communication." Maggie will feature many illustrated examples to demonstrate how to communicate your brand with greater meaning and impact by using universally understood symbols.

Maggie Macnab has created award-winning logos and identities over the past 25 years for clients such as the Heart Hospital of New Mexico, New Mexico Heart Institute, Bradbury Stamm, New Mexico Economic Development Board and the USDA Forest Service. She is a sought after teacher, speaker and consultant for her method of creating identity branding and design, and is past president of the Communication Artists of NM. Macnab's visual presentation will show how our world is composed of a handful of simple patterns which can be broken down into simple shapes–the symbols that we all respond to, and she will also deconstruct some well known logos showing how the embedded symbolism can show intent and influence response. She will explain how symbols speak directly to our unconscious and how they can create powerful and effective communication. Macnab will have copies of her book available for sale and signing directly following the lunch, which ends at 1 PM.
